After we bought the most important part of the equipment, we took the decision that we should test it to figure out if we are missing something and how it behaves in real road conditions.
We planed to do the trip in September 2017, during 7 days, crossing the hills of Transylvania up to Sibiu and then return under the foothills of the Fagaras Mountains to Busteni, the starting point, but also the finish. The purpose was to get used with the bicycles, set up the equipment, visit the Saxons villages and relax.
The route started from Busteni, Vlad’s hometown which is at the foot of the Bucegi Mountains and continued to Zarnesti, passing the mountains through Poiana Marului, descending to the Transylvanian hills. The road took us through Saxons villages with their specific architecture and scattered on picturesque hills up to Sighisoara, where we visited the medieval fortress that is still inhabited and enlisted in Unesco patrimony. We also met with Silvia’s parents to have a chat about the trip. Further on we head up to Sibiu following the proposed route through the Transylvanian villages. Once in Sibiu, the former European Capital of Culture in 2007, we were welcomed by Emilia and Dorin. From there we went back to Busteni under the foothills of Fagaras mountains, pedaling along the river Olt.
